TAE Technologies, a fusion energy development company, and Occidental Low Carbon Ventures (OLCV), a subsidiary of Occidental, have signed a memorandum of understanding to explore using TAE's fusion technology to provide emissions-free power and heat for Direct Air Capture (DAC) facilities.
The two companies aim to use TAE's fusion technology as a potential emissions-free and continuous energy source for Occidental's DAC facilities. TAE also aims to demonstrate the reliability, cost savings, and safety of its power management systems in a commercial setting.
Analyst QuickTake: TAE has been taking several strides toward commercial fusion in 2023. Most recently, in March 2023 , the company partnered with Japan’s National Institute for Fusion Science (NIFS), to carry out the world’s first hydrogen-boron fusion experiments in a magnetically confined fusion plasma. This moved the company closer to realizing a fusion power plant for electricity generation.
