SkyDrive, a Japanese developer of eVTOL and heavy-lift cargo drones, announced that it signed a cooperation agreement with JR Kyushu Railway Company, a Japanese rail network company.
The partnership aims to conduct a feasibility study for eVTOL air taxi services in Kyushu, Japan's third-largest island, and assess how eVTOL flights could improve connections for local travelers and tourists by establishing vertiports near train stations. SkyDrive would explore integrating air taxi flights using its three-seat SD-05 aircraft with Kyushu's local railway services.
Analyst QuickTake: In July 2024 , SkyDrive partnered with Saha Tokyu to expand eVTOL services to Thailand, making its partnership with Kyushu Railway its second partnership in 2024 as part of its expansion efforts.
