Stratasys partners with Ricoh USA to study 3D-printed models in orthopaedic oncology

Partnerships

  • Stratasys, a provider of polymer 3D printing solutions, has expanded its partnership with Ricoh USA on a clinical study to assess the use of 3D-printed models for preoperative planning in orthopedic oncology. The two companies initially partnered in December 2023 to facilitate 3D printing of anatomical models for healthcare applications.

  • The study aims to investigate whether 3D-printed models can enhance preoperative planning and tumor excision compared to the traditional approach that relies solely on CT or MRI imaging. It will assess whether the models can lower blood loss, reduce procedural risks, and shorten operation times.

  • The study is expected to last 12 months and involve up to 150 participants from notable sites such as Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center and Corewell Health.
