Toronto-based AI startup Cohere and digital transformation company Fujitsu have formed a strategic partnership to develop and provide LLMs for enterprises.
The partnership aims to leverage Cohere's recent model, Command R+, and Fujitsu's expertise in Japanese language training to create "Takane" (tentative name), an advanced Japanese language model. Takane will be offered through Fujitsu Kozuchi AI services, focusing on providing secure, private, cloud-based, GenAI solutions tailored for specific industries and businesses to boost productivity and efficiency.
Analyst QuickTake: In May, Fujitsu released Fugaku-LLM , an open-sourced LLM designed with enhanced Japanese language capability. It was also selected by Japan's New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO) for an initiative to research and develop technology combining knowledge graphs with LLMs to realize LLMs that enable logical reasoning. These developments may make Fujitsu a key player in the GenAI space in the Japanese market.
