Stockeld Dreamery, a Swedish company specializing in plant-based dairy, has partnered with New York City-based deli in-store concept Plantega to offer its MELT Cultured Cheddar across more than 60 bodegas in New York, increasing the availability of plant-based cheese in convenience stores.
The partnership aims to incorporate Stockeld's cheddar cheese into 18 Plantega menu items, including sandwiches, burritos, chopped cheese, and Philly cheesesteaks. This collaboration is expected to help increase the cheese's visibility and availability before its retail launch and further expansion plans later in 2024.
Stockeld's MELT cheddar cheese was released in February 2024 and is being served in over 100 locations across New York, including Gotham Burger, 5 Napkin Burger, Neat, Bronx Brewery, and Tompkins Square Bagels. The vegan cheese was developed by combining high-protein pea milk with traditional cheese fermentation techniques.
