Eve Air Mobility, a producer of electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft, launched the first of six prototypes at an internal event at Embraer's Gaviao Peixoto flight test center in Brazil. The prototype will support the program through developmental flight testing.
The prototype will undergo flight tests to assess the nine-motor eVTOL aircraft's hover, transition, and cruise capability. This will enable Eve to calibrate the aircraft to control laws and measure aircraft noise. Eve claims the aircraft will be 65% quieter than helicopters, offering 10–15 decibel reductions in noise during takeoff, hovering, and landing compared to a conventional helicopter.
Eve also finalized its primary suppliers for the eVTOL aircraft. The design and production of the aircraft's interior will be done by German company Diehl Aviation. In contrast, Italian company ASE Aerospace will develop and produce the Primary High and Low Voltage Power Distribution Systems and the High Voltage Direct Current converter, which will connect the two systems on the eVTOL.
Analyst QuickTake: In July 2024 , Eve Air Mobility secured USD 94 million in equity financing from Embraer, Nidec Incorporation, Space Florida, and other investors. Eve reported that the funding was expected to be used till 2027 to improve its eVTOL development, support manufacturing ~2,900 aircraft orders, and develop its software, Vector.
