Supernal LLC, the Hyundai eVTOL subsidiary, announced the public display of its S-A2 eVTOL concept at the biennial Farnborough International Airshow 2024. The S-A2, first unveiled in January 2024 , will be in Supernal's A025 chalet.
The S-A2 reportedly has a cruising speed of 120 mph at altitudes between 1,000 and 1,500 feet above ground level, and an initial range of ~60 mi to meet conventional city operation needs. The aircraft utilizes distributed electric propulsion and will operate quietly. The S-A2 is designed to achieve commercial aviation safety standards with an airframe structure that includes redundant components in critical systems, such as powertrain, flight controls, and avionics.
Supernal will commence prototype testing of S-A2 in 2025, before the company begins flying its full-scale technology demonstrator (FSTD). At the Farnborough Airshow, Supernal will host an industry panel in collaboration with the World Economic Forum (WEF) on Wednesday, July 24, 2024, at 10:00 a.m.
