Bone Health Technologies (BHT), a provider of devices for enhancing senior bone health, has acquired Wellen, a Brooklyn-based company focused on personalized exercise programs for osteoporosis, for an undisclosed sum.
Wellen specializes in creating personalized, science-backed exercise programs for women over 50 to address osteoporosis. The company aims to strengthen bones and reduce the risk of falls and fractures through customized exercise routines developed by physical therapists.
BHT plans to integrate Wellen's expertise with its FDA-cleared Osteoboost vibration therapy belt, set to launch in late 2024. This acquisition is expected to create a comprehensive, multi-modal bone health solution, offering patients targeted vibration therapy and personalized exercise programs to improve outcomes for those with low bone density.
Analyst QuickTake: This March, BHT raised USD 5 million in venture funding, which it planned to use to finalize the development of its Osteoboost belt. This acquisition will help to make the belt a more complete offering by combining it with Wellen’s offerings. From an industry perspective, this marks the third acquisition in the Age Tech industry carried out this month. Over the last two weeks, LifeLoop and Linus Health have engaged in acquisitions to bolster their respective offerings.
