Capella Space, a space tech company providing synthetic aperture radar (SAR) data solutions, announced that it had obtained a USD 14.9 million contract from the US Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) to provide synthetic aperture radar (SAR) services.
The contract, expiring in December 2026, will merge Capella's SAR data into AFRL's Global Unification Environment, a cloud-based platform designed to test automated satellite tasking and imaging collection strategies using commercial systems.
AFRL reported that the agreement with Capella is a "Small Business Innovation Research Phase 2 Strategic Funding Increase" award, focused on supporting small businesses' R&D efforts with potential for commercialization.
