8 Rivers, a carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS) technology developer, has partnered with Siemens Energy to develop a zero-emission turbine that generates electricity from captured CO2.
The partnership focuses on developing direct-fired supercritical CO2 turbines for various applications and fuel types, including the Allam-Fetvedt Cycle (AFC). Siemens Energy will provide key equipment, services, and engineering expertise, while 8 Rivers will benefit from Siemens' global network and industry knowledge.
The collaboration also includes developing a biomass-fueled AFC negative emissions power system known as Biome, which aims to generate low-cost, reliable power with CO2 removal capabilities.
