Pico Interactive launches 4 Ultra mixed reality headset in China

Product updates

  • ByteDance subsidiary Pico Interactive launched its Pico 4 Ultra mixed reality headset in China. Pricing and international release details are not yet available.

  • The Pico 4 Ultra includes four environment-tracking cameras, two 32 MP color passthrough cameras, and an iToF depth-sensing camera. It offers a resolution of 2160 x 2160 pixels per eye, a 60 FPS refresh rate, Wi-Fi 7 connectivity, and is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon XR2 Gen 2 chipset with 12 GB RAM. The device also features ringless controllers and spatial video support.

  • The company is marketing the headset for workplace use, featuring a PanoScreen Workspace solution and a PICO Connect application for mirroring various device screens. Additionally, Pico has introduced Motion Trackers for full-body input in immersive applications.

  • Analyst QuickTake: Lately, XR hardware developers have been focused on adding full-color mixed reality capabilities to their headsets, followed by Meta’s Quest 3 and Apple’s Vision Pro headsets. Additionally, the news follows the company’s launch of its G3 VR headset (priced at ~USD 440) in April 2023 , geared toward enterprise training.
