LanzaTech, a Nasdaq-listed next-generation carbon transformation company, and LanzaJet, a LanzaTech spinoff that produces sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) from low-carbon ethanol, have partnered with Wagner Sustainable Fuels, an Australian SAF provider, to evaluate equipping the latter's Brisbane SAF refinery with the CirculAir platform for SAF production.
The project aims to convert waste CO2 and renewable energy into SAF using LanzaTech and LanzaJet's joint CirculAir technology. Boeing and the Queensland Government are investing in the partnership, which aims to create jobs, increase Australia's energy security, and reduce aviation greenhouse gas emissions.
Analyst QuickTake: In June 2024 , LanzaTech and LanzaJet joined forces to introduce CirculAir, which converts waste, carbon, and renewable energy into SAF. This process will initially use LanzaTech's carbon recycling technology to convert local waste streams into CarbonSmart ethanol, which will then be converted into SAF using LanzaJet's Alcohol-to-Jet technology.
