Eastman launches sustainable fiber “Naia Renew” for apparel products

Product updates

  • Eastman, a specialty materials company, has launched a cellulosic yarn, “Naia Renew,” to be used in women’s casual wear and loungewear.

  • The material is made from 60% wood fiber and 40% recycled waste plastics from carpet fibers and plastic packaging generated through Eastman’s carbon renewal technology (CRT). The company claims that the fabric blends well with Iyocell, modal, and recycled polyester to produce sustainable fabrics and garments.

  • Eastman is an NYSE-listed producer of specialty materials, operating across four segments: additives and functional products, advanced materials, chemical intermediates, and fibers. The company generated USD 8.5 billion in revenue in 2020 and served customers in more than 100 countries across several industries, including transportation, building and construction, and consumables. Eastman’s product portfolio includes sustainable resins with the same quality and processing ease as virgin polymer in terms of the clarity, luster, color compatibility, and durability required by cosmetic packaging. In April 2021, the company also partnered with Estee Lauder, a beauty products company, to introduce sustainable packaging across its beauty brands.
