NASA selects BlackSky to provide satellite imagery for Earth science research

Partnerships

  • NASA has chosen BlackSky Technology to supply time-diverse, high-revisit satellite imaging data for Earth observation research under the Commercial Smallsat Data Acquisition Program (CSDAP).

  • The multi-year contract, which has a maximum value of USD 476 million and runs through November 2028, will involve BlackSky providing Earth observation data to support NASA's Earth science research and application activities.

  • BlackSky's Spectra platform will use imagery and AI-enabled analytics from its high-revisit constellation to enable automatic pattern-of-life monitoring and anomaly detection. This increased temporal frequency is expected to support researchers' studies of Earth's ecosystems, oceanography, geography, and polar systems.
