NASA has chosen BlackSky Technology to supply time-diverse, high-revisit satellite imaging data for Earth observation research under the Commercial Smallsat Data Acquisition Program (CSDAP).
The multi-year contract, which has a maximum value of USD 476 million and runs through November 2028, will involve BlackSky providing Earth observation data to support NASA's Earth science research and application activities.
BlackSky's Spectra platform will use imagery and AI-enabled analytics from its high-revisit constellation to enable automatic pattern-of-life monitoring and anomaly detection. This increased temporal frequency is expected to support researchers' studies of Earth's ecosystems, oceanography, geography, and polar systems.
