Ōura, the maker of the Ōura Ring wearable health device, has acquired Veri, a Finnish personalized metabolic health company, for an undisclosed amount. A significant portion of Veri's team, including its three founders, will join Ōura as employees.
Veri is a company that guides users to the right foods and habits for their bodies through an app that is enabled by continuous glucose monitors (CGM). The platform helps users understand how nutrition affects their health, lose weight, increase energy, and improve sleep.
Ōura plans to integrate Veri's expertise to expand its offerings in metabolic health, which is a key area of interest for Oura members. This fall, the company will introduce a new Meals feature, helping members track meal timing and understand how eating habits impact health metrics like sleep, stress, and recovery.
Analyst QuickTake : Traditionally, Ōura has tried to maintain its market share by suing potential new entrants . However, this strategy fell apart when Samsung countered Ōura’s strategy by preemptively suing the company before launching its Galaxy Ring. Now, it appears that Ōura is attempting to maintain its market presence by expanding its product features, as it plans to integrate Veri’s CGM functions into its wearable. The latest version of the ring, which could incorporate these features, is rumored to be released soon .
