Apex unveils larger satellite bus 'Nova'

Product updates

  • Apex, a satellite manufacturer, has unveiled Nova, a larger satellite bus designed for more demanding missions from government customers. The base version of Nova weighs 250 kg and can accommodate up to 300 kg of payloads, while a heavy version weighs 400 kg and can host up to 500 kg of payloads.

  • Nova is designed to complement Apex's existing smaller Aries bus. It can provide between one and two kilowatts of orbit-averaged power and is compatible with a SpaceX rideshare payload adapter known as an XL Plate. The new bus primarily targets projects for US and allied governments, with some commercial interest in communications and remote sensing systems.

  • Nova is designed for customers running intense operational missions requiring redundant avionics, systems, and constellations. The company plans to deliver Nova spacecraft to customers in the third quarter of 2025, focusing on low-Earth orbit missions.
