HTC announced the Vive Focus Vision, a mixed reality headset priced at USD 999. The headset offers standalone and PC-tethered capabilities and is now available for pre-order and is expected to start shipping in mid-October.
The Vive Focus Vision, powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon XR2 chip, features a 2448 x 2448 per-eye resolution, built-in eye tracking, dual 16-megapixel cameras for full-color passthrough, a 120-degree field of view (FOV), up to 120Hz refresh rate support, and DisplayPort mode for visually lossless PCVR experiences.
The headset also has an auto-IPD adjustment, a revamped cooling system, a two-hour battery life, and a sub-battery with 20 minutes of runtime. The Vive Focus Vision features Quest 2-style controllers and targets the consumer and enterprise sectors.
Analyst QuickTake: The Vive Focus Vision departs from previous headsets in the series, which had a heavy enterprise focus. On the other hand, its price point may dissuade gamers from purchasing it in favor of the Quest 3, which retails at USD 499. The Vive Focus Vision is also the company's second mixed reality headset, following the launch of the HTC Vive XR Elite (USD 1,100, announced in January 2023 ).
