Rocket Lab launches second set of Kinéis satellites

Product updates

  • Rocket Lab, a space launch company, has successfully launched its Electron rocket carrying five satellites for Kinéis, a French startup offering Internet of Things services. This launch is part of a series of five launches Kinéis procured from Rocket Lab in 2021 to deploy a 25-satellite constellation for global IoT services.

  • The Electron rocket lifted off from Rocket Lab's Launch Complex 1 in New Zealand, deploying the satellites into sun-synchronous orbits at an altitude of 643 km. This launch marks the second of five planned launches for Kinéis, the first of which occurred in June 2024. Kinéis plans to launch the remaining 15 satellites by the first quarter 2025.

  • Kinéis plans to begin initial services with the 10 satellites currently in orbit in January 2025. Full constellation services are expected by mid-2025, providing data collection with a latency of 15 to 20 minutes.
