Tesla secures 10 new orders from MHX Leasing for its “Tesla Semi” electric trucks

Partnerships

  • Tesla, the developer of “Tesla Semi” battery-electric class 8 semi-trucks with autonomous capabilities, has secured an order for 10 Tesla Semi trucks and two Megacharger charging stations. The order came from MHX Leasing, a California-based logistics company, with roughly USD 2 million in government support.

  • Tesla has already secured preorders for the truck from companies, including Pride Group Enterprises (for 150 trucks; November 2020), Walmart (for 130 trucks; September 2020), and Pepsi (for 100 trucks; December 2017). The company plans to start producing the units this year, delivering its first batch of trucks before 2022.

  • Unveiled in November 2017, Tesla Semi comes with its self-driving technology, “Tesla Autopilot.” The autopilot feature is equipped with automatic emergency braking, lane departure warnings, and event recording with Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) Level 2 automation.
