Pomelo Care acquires Doula Network to offer hybrid maternity care model

M&A

  • Pomelo Care, a value-based virtual provider of maternity care, has acquired the Doula Network, the largest network of credentialed, in-network doulas in the US, for an undisclosed sum.

  • With this acquisition, Pomelo Care plans to fully integrate the Doula Network to offer a hybrid model of care, combining unlimited virtual care delivered by a multidisciplinary team with in-person doula support. This integration aims to expand access to high-quality maternity care and improve patient care coordination.

  • Pomelo grew its covered lives to over 15 million post-acquisition, including over one in six Medicaid beneficiaries nationally.

  • Analyst Quicktake: In June 2024 , Pomelo Care raised USD 46 million in Series B funding to expand its virtual maternal care offerings. At the time of the fundraise, the company noted that it planned on advancing its partnerships with various insurance providers nationwide.
