BETA unveils passenger variant of ALIA aircraft

Product updates

  • BETA Technologies, an electric aerospace company in Burlington, Vermont, has revealed an early look at its passenger variant of the ALIA aircraft, a fixed-wing and VTOL (vertical takeoff and landing) aircraft. The company plans to launch its cargo and medical variant by 2025, with the passenger version following after that.

  • The passenger-focused ALIA aircraft is designed to carry up to five passengers and a pilot. It features a spacious cabin with room for carry-on and TSA-secure luggage. It is certified for instrument flight rules (IFR) operations and is capable of all-weather flying with Flight into Known Icing (FIKI) certification.

  • BETA claims that the electric passenger aircraft will enable operators to unlock new routes due to its high dispatch rate and low maintenance and operational energy costs. The company has already received orders from customers such as Blade, LCI, and Helijet for passenger and cargo operations.

  • Analyst QuickTake: BETA Technologies is advancing the development of its eVTOL aircraft and charging station infrastructure with plans to enter service by 2025. As such, the company partnered with Archer Aviation in November 2023 to develop eVTOL charging networks and with the Golden Triangle Regional Airport (GTRA) and Avflight in February 2024 to install Mississippi's first electric aviation charging station. BETA also completed its first pilot test flights for its ALIA 250 aircraft in April 2024. In August 2024 , it received FAA authorization to commence dual-seat pilot training in its ALIA 250 aircraft.
