Pivotal, a provider of light eVTOL aircraft, has completed the delivery of 13 BlackFly aircraft to customers across the US as part of its Early Access Program (EAP). The BlackFly is a fixed-wing aircraft built on Pivotal's third-generation eVTOL platform.
The BlackFly eVTOL aircraft features tilt-aircraft VTOL technology, triple modular systems for safety, and the ability to take off and land on various surfaces. It can be operated in manned, unmanned, or optionally manned modes and complies with the FAA Part 103 (Ultralight) category for flight in Class G airspace.
Pivotal claims its technology is the most mature in the light eVTOL category, offering simplicity, high reliability, lower weight, and reduced system cost. The company has received positive feedback from consumer and defense circles, including the US Air Force, which evaluates the aircraft for diverse applications and remotely piloted missions.
Analyst QuickTake: This announcement follows Pivotal's recent milestone achievement of concluding 1,117 crewed flights in the BlackFly aircraft. The company claimed it was a milestone for the first in-light eVTOL aircraft and all powered-lift eVTOLs. Pivotal also offers the Helix eVTOL aircraft, which is available for pre-order and expected to be delivered in 2025.
