Climeworks partners with Coca-Cola HBC to produce carbon-neutral sparkling water

Partnerships

  • Climeworks, a direct air capture (DAC) technology company, has partnered with Coca-Cola Hellenic Bottling Company (HBC) in Switzerland to produce carbon-neutral sparkling water.

  • Under the partnership, Climeworks will use its DAC technology to capture CO2 from the atmosphere and supply it to Coca-Cola HBC for use in Valser, the world's first CO2-neutral sparkling water. This collaboration addresses emissions reduction and sustainable CO2 sourcing for the beverage industry.

  • Analyst QuickTake: This collaboration marks Climeworks’ first entry into the beverage industry in Switzerland. It demonstrates the feasibility of using air-captured CO2 in food and beverage production, potentially solving the industry’s CO2 shortage issues. Earlier this month, the company also partnered with Terraset , a non-profit organization, to provide philanthropic support for purchasing carbon removal.
