The Dutch Data Protection Authority (DPA) has fined Clearview AI, a facial recognition company, EUR 30.5 million (~USD 33.7 million) for violating Europe's General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Clearview AI was accused of creating an illegal database with unique biometric codes linked to photos collected from social media platforms and failing to provide sufficient information to individuals about the use of their images and biometric data.
