Meta launches Movie Gen, an AI-powered video generation model

Product updates

  • Meta has announced Movie Gen, a new AI-powered video generator model that uses text inputs to automatically generate new videos, edit existing footage, or transform images into videos.

  • Movie Gen claims to be able to generate high-definition 1080p HD videos in different aspect ratios, add AI-generated audio, including ambient noise, sound effects, and background music, and make specific edits to video elements using text prompts.

  • Analyst QuickTake: Increasing interest was seen in the video generation space over the past couple of months with companies launching models with advanced capabilities. Some examples include Stability AI’s stable video 4D : a model that enables users to upload and obtain dynamic videos from different viewpoints; Runway’s Gen 3 alpha turbo , a faster model than its flagship, Gen 3 alpha; Alibaba’s launch of Qwen-Max , a text to video tool; Zhipu AI’s Ying , a text to video converter; and Minimax’s video-01 , a text to video model.
