Fluence, an energy storage and optimization software company, has partnered with Statkraft to supply a 58 MWh battery-based energy storage system for Germany's largest hybrid solar and storage project in Zerbst.
The project combines a 47-megawatt solar park with a 16-megawatt battery storage system and is expected to save approximately 32,000 tons of CO2 emissions annually. This is the sixth collaboration between Fluence and Statkraft in Europe, with the energy storage system designed to store solar energy during periods of low demand and release it to the grid when demand is high.
Analyst QuickTake: In addition to the latest project in Germany, Fluence supplies and maintains battery energy storage systems for Statkraft in the UK and Ireland. In August 2024 , the company partnered with Excelsior Energy Capital, a renewable energy investor, to deploy 2.2 GWh of battery storage projects in the US starting in 2025.
