Asuene, a Japanese carbon accounting platform, has raised USD 5.3 million in the second tranche of its Series C funding round. Investors include Japan Green Investment Corp. for Carbon Neutrality, Nippon Life Insurance, JERA, Pavilion Capital, and individual investor Hidetaka Kojima. This brings the total Series C funding to USD 33 million and aggregate fundraising to USD 67 million.
The funding will be used to advance multiple products in the climate tech space, with a focus on decarbonization and ESG. Asuene is also expanding globally, having established offices in Singapore and the US and a global development center in the Philippines.
The company has also completed an M&A deal for CoRocket, a third-party verification company, and created a new company, Asuene Veritas, to provide third-party verification for climate change and non-financial data. Asuene's carbon accounting platform has over 9,000 customers in Japan and more than 140 partner companies. Its ESG evaluation cloud has over 14,000 evaluated customers.
