Thai Union-owned French seafood brand Petit Navire has partnered with microalgae startup Algama Foods to introduce a plant-based fish product line called Cap Végétal.
The Cap Végétal range includes canned marinated plant-based fish in three flavors and two ready-to-eat salads. The products are made from wheat, soy, algae oil, and sea lettuce, providing protein and omega-3. The range will be available exclusively at Carrefour starting this month.
Analyst QuickTake: This partnership follows Thai Union's investment in Algama Foods last year, aiming to expand its alternative protein business and meet sustainability goals. Algama Foods does not sell retail products and focuses on providing R&D processes for other producers.
