SpaceX, a private space exploration company, has secured a USD 733.6 million contract from the US Space Force (USSF) for national security space launches.
The contract includes seven launches for the Space Development Agency (SDA) to build out Tranche 2 of the Transport Layer constellation, and at least two launches for the National Reconnaissance Office (NRO) from Vandenberg Space Force Base. These launches aim to enhance national security capabilities by putting more assets in orbit faster.
Analyst QuickTake: SpaceX was also selected by the USSF in June 2024 for a five-year contract for the National Security Space Launch (NSSL) Phase 3 launch services. In July 2024 , the company received an increase in the NSSL Phase 2 contract value by ~USD 0.7 billion from the USSF.
