Climeworks, a Swiss direct air capture (DAC) company, has partnered with financial services firm Morgan Stanley to provide carbon removal solutions using its DAC technology.
Under the agreement, Climeworks will permanently remove 40,000 tons of CO2 by 2037. The partnership marks Morgan Stanley's first purchase of DAC carbon credits and will help accelerate the scale-up of Climeworks' technology in the US, particularly for Project Cypress.
Analyst QuickTake: This is Climeworks' second largest contract to date, behind its 15-year agreement with Boston Consulting Group (BCG) to remove 80,000 tons of CO2 in December 2023 . Earlier this month, Climeworks partnered with CapturePoint , a CO2 sequestration company, to transport and store CO2 from its Project Cypress DAC hub in Louisiana.
