Climeworks signs second-largest DAC deal with Morgan Stanley to remove 40,000 tons of CO2 by 2037

Partnerships

  • Climeworks, a Swiss direct air capture (DAC) company, has partnered with financial services firm Morgan Stanley to provide carbon removal solutions using its DAC technology.

  • Under the agreement, Climeworks will permanently remove 40,000 tons of CO2 by 2037. The partnership marks Morgan Stanley's first purchase of DAC carbon credits and will help accelerate the scale-up of Climeworks' technology in the US, particularly for Project Cypress.

  • Analyst QuickTake: This is Climeworks' second largest contract to date, behind its 15-year agreement with Boston Consulting Group (BCG) to remove 80,000 tons of CO2 in December 2023 . Earlier this month, Climeworks partnered with CapturePoint , a CO2 sequestration company, to transport and store CO2 from its Project Cypress DAC hub in Louisiana.
