Momentis Surgical has received FDA clearance for its second-gen Anovo robotic surgical platform. The system features miniature humanoid-shaped robotic arms and is the first FDA-cleared robotic system capable of operating in retroflexion and anteflexion.
The upgraded platform includes new features such as integrated haptic feedback for intuitive control, enhanced ergonomics, and an annotation-enabled video overlay system for improved team communication. The system was previously authorized only for single-site, natural orifice laparoscopic-assisted transvaginal benign surgical procedures.
Analyst QuickTake: Several FDA approvals for next-gen medical devices were seen in the recent past. In October 2024, CMR Surgical received FDA marketing clearance for its Versius surgical robotic system. In August 2024 , THINK Surgical's TMINI Miniature Robotic System was cleared for use with Medacta International’s GMK Sphere and SpheriKA Knee Systems.
