Starship Technologies, an autonomous delivery droid maker, has expanded its partnership with Co-Op, a convenience store chain in the UK, to include deliveries in Northampton, the second town in the UK.
Starship droids will serve approximately 5,000 households within a three miles radius of Co-op’s Wootton Fields store. Customers can place orders from a range of more than 1,000 items available at the store via the Starship app.
Co-op plans to extend the partnership further to include more towns, with the objective of using 300 Starship droids by the end of 2021.
In 2018, Starship Technologies launched its commercial delivery service in Milton Keynes, UK, in partnership with Tesco and Co-op Food. The service later expanded to include deliveries by plant-based milk producer Plenish, while coverage expanded to more than 15 estates in Milton Keynes by September 2020.
