Forward Healthcare shuts down after eight years of operations

Management news

  • Direct primary care provider Forward announced its immediate shutdown of operations, including the closure of all locations and its mobile application. The closure affects nearly 200 employees.

  • The company will provide patients with information about accessing their medical records and suggest resources for finding new providers. Medical team support will remain available via email until December 13, 2024.

  • Analyst QuickTake: In November 2023 , Forward raised USD 100 million in a Series E funding round and launched AI-based CarePods in multiple cities, with plans to deploy 3,200 units in 2024. While the reason for the shutdown is unclear, it appears the company faced challenges in scaling as planned and achieving its goal of replacing traditional doctor’s offices with AI-driven solutions.
