Morpheus Space, a modular and scalable electric propulsion systems provider for small satellites, has partnered with D-Orbit, an Italian space logistics and satellite deployment company, to conduct an in-orbit demonstration of Morpheus' GO-2 electric propulsion system aboard the ION Satellite Carrier, D-Orbit's orbital transfer vehicle.
The GO-2 propulsion system features 40 individually controllable emission sites, enabling enhanced thrust control and adjustable thrust levels over extended durations. This in-orbit demonstration will put these capabilities to the test. D-Orbit’s ION Satellite Carrier will facilitate the test, leveraging its versatility for satellite deployment and in-orbit experiments.
According to Morpheus Space, the GO-2 system’s modular design ensures reliability by isolating component failures, minimizing mission risks. The demonstration is expected to enable mass production and reinforce the company’s presence in the evolving New Space market.
