Hexagon unveils Advanced Compensation for metal 3D printing

Product updates

  • Hexagon's Manufacturing Intelligence division, a provider of manufacturing technology solutions, has introduced Advanced Compensation technology for metal 3D printing. The technology will be available to all Simufact Additive customers in Q1 2025.

  • The technology combines process simulation with geometry compensation to ensure large or complex metal parts distort into their intended shape during printing. The solution integrates with Hexagon's Simufact Additive software and VGSTUDIO MAX technology, allowing users to perform parts and compensate print-ready meshes using 3D scan data. According to Hexagon, the new technology enables manufacturers to achieve surface profiles that are 98%–100% within tolerance, reduce material waste, and minimize support structures.
