Flirtey, a drone delivery company, has entered a partnership with Vault Health, a healthcare platform specializing in at-home treatments for men, to test delivering Covid-19 test kits in Reno, Nevada.
As per the agreement, Vault Health will first send testing kits to its distribution centers based on historical market demand. Upon receiving customers’ orders, test kits will be delivered to their homes using Flirtey drones. The test kit can be used under the supervision of a health professional via a video call.
Last week, rival operator DroneUp also announced a new pilot program in collaboration with Walmart and Quest Diagnostics (a clinical laboratory) to deliver Covid-19 at-home self-collection kits in El Paso, Texas.
Flirtey was the first to obtain Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) approval to conduct drone deliveries on a trial basis in the US in 2015. The company has so far entered into partnerships with ambulance services and other commercial partners, including Domino’s and 7-Eleven, in its various drone-based trial delivery operations.
