Coldquanta reaches new quantum milestone with 100 qubits

Product updates

  • ColdQuanta, a Colorado-based quantum hardware company, announced that its cloud-based quantum computer “Hilbert”—which was expected to enter the market in H2 2021—reached a milestone by trapping 100 qubits in a large, dense 2D cold atom array.

  • The use of cold atoms enables better control of their quantum state, thus improving scalability. The achievement of the 100-qubit milestone indicates the near-term possibility that the system will be commercially available for practical and real-life applications which require highly efficient optimization such as financial services, logistics, and drug discovery.

  • ColdQuanta was founded in 2007 as a spin-off from the University of Colorado Boulder to supply various quantum instruments and systems. The company recently expanded into build quantum computers. The company’s cloud-based quantum design platform for quantum sensing and network applications enables the design of quantum clocks, gravimeters, accelerometers, and gyroscopes.
