Hyzon Motors, a commercial hydrogen fuel cell vehicle developer, has received an order for two prime mover trucks from Australian industrial gases company Coregas, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the conglomerate Wesfarmers. The trucks would be delivered by H2 2022 and are considered the first hydrogen-powered heavy trucks operating in Australia.
Coregas plans to deploy the trucks at its hydrogen production facility in New South Wales (NSW) to transport specialty gases, including hydrogen, to customers in the state.
Currently, Coregas is also working on installing commercial vehicle hydrogen refueling stations at its Port Kembla facility, reportedly the first in Australia, with plans to build a wider hydrogen ecosystem in the future. The NSW Government recently allocated USD 70 million to support the development of hydrogen hubs within the state.
New York-based Hyzon Motors develops commercial hydrogen fuel cell-powered vehicles, including heavy and medium-duty trucks, buses, and coaches. The company has production facilities in New York, the Netherlands, China, and Australia, with plans to commercialize the product in 2021.
