Wicked Kitchen secured USD 14 million in a Series A funding round co-led by Unovis Asset Management and Thailand-based NRF Nove Foods. The brand has a list of products in its portfolio under the categories: On the Go, Chilled and Fresh, Frozen, and Cooking with several meals featuring plant-based meat items.
The funds will help launch the brand in the US, where the focus will be on the adoption of the Wicked Kitchen products in the market and the development of retail partnerships. Wicken Kitchen products will initially be launched in 2,500 Sprout stores and plans to eventually expand to all US retail channels. This US launch comes following USD 20 million sales in the UK since 2018.
Wicked Healthy launched the Wicked Kitchen brand in collaboration with Tesco in 2018 as an exclusive line of plant-based meals for the retail chain. Wicked Healthy was founded by chefs and brothers Derek and Chad Sarno, who also co-founded Gathered Foods- makers of plant-based seafood under the Good Catch brand. Derek Sano also serves as the executive chef and head of plant-based innovations in Tesco. In May 2021, WIcked Kitchen partnered with Beyond Meats to launch a new vegan ready and frozen meals range across Tesco stores in the UK.
