Adyen, a payment infrastructure provider, has expanded its partnership with Grab, to enable merchants to offer buy-now-pay-later (BNPL) capabilities at checkout for GrabPay Wallet customers.
The BNPL feature does not charge interest, and will initially be rolled out in Singapore and Malaysia as “PayLater” installments split over four months and “PayKater Postpaid” with payments due the following month.
Grab claims that many of its merchants are already integrated with Adyen, and therefore can add deferred payment features at no extra cost. The two companies first partnered in 2016 to extend GrabPay across Southeast Asia.
Netherlands-based Adyen offers full-stack payment infrastructure for enterprises to enable an omnichannel payment platform by connecting online (including mobile and web) and offline payments (point of sale) into one system. Its online payment solutions include B2C, B2B, and subscription management systems.
In addition to facilitating payments, Adyen’s infrastructure platform also offers insights for merchants based on shopper data. Adyen facilitates payments from multiple sources, including credit cards, virtual wallets, mobile payments, online banking, and direct debits.
