Thunes, a cross-border payment infrastructure provider, announced that it is acquiring the European payment methods platform Limonetik and will integrate into a single API the 285 local payment methods (such as wallets, installments, QR codes, etc.) Limonetik supports in over 70 countries.
The acquired solutions will be known as “Thunes Collections” and Limonetik’s team of 50 employees will be joining Thunes.
Limonetik develops alternative payment methods for cross-border payments and marketplaces and claims to have processed more than EUR 2 billion (USD 2.4 billion) per year. The platform is used by around 14,000 merchants, marketplaces, and Fintechs, including UberEats, CMA - CGM, Deliveroo, and Veepee.
Singapore-based Thunes is a cross-border payment infrastructure platform for banks, mobile money operators, money transfer operators, payment service providers, and enterprise payment platforms. It reduces the cost of cross-border fund transfers by eliminating third parties. The platform only charges up to USD 5 for transfers compared to competitors that also charge based on transaction values.
