Drone Delivery Canada receives license for Canadian drone deliveries

Product updates

  • Drone Delivery Canada (DDC), an Ontario-based drone and logistics systems developer, has received a  domestic cargo license under the Canada Transportation Act (CTA) and Air Transport Regulations to conduct drone delivery services. This license is usually issued to airlines for passenger and cargo services.

  • The license is mandatory to provide scheduled commercial drone delivery services, enabling DDC to scale its operations throughout Canada.

  • DDC offers drones for a range of applications, including courier services, medical deliveries, mining, and oil and gas, among others. It caters to government agencies as well as industrial and commercial customers globally. Its product portfolio includes several drone models (“Condor,” “Sparrow,” and “Robin XL”) with varying payload capacities and coverage capabilities.

  • Analyst Quicktake: With the news, DDC became the second drone delivery company to obtain such a license in Canada, following its competitor InDro Robotics, which received approval in November last year.
