Carbon Clean Solutions, a British carbon capture startup, raised USD 8 million from CEMEX (a leader in the global building materials industry) and existing investors WAVE Equity Partners, ICOS Capital, and Equinor Ventures. Previously, in July and February 2020, Carbon Clean raised USD 22 million as the first and second tranches of its Series B round. The round brings Carbon Clean’s total funding to USD 30 million.
CEMEX was previously awarded a grant from the US Department of Energy to deploy a pilot carbon capture unit at its CEMEX Victorville cement plant in California. CEMEX will work in collaboration with Carbon Clean on this project.
Founded in 2009, Carbon Clean provides carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS) solutions for a variety of industries, such as steel, cement, refineries, waste-to-energy, and biogas. As of January 2021, CCS had 38 CCUS facilities worldwide, including the US, Europe, India, and Indonesia.
