Nike partners with Newlight Technologies to design products out of carbon waste

Partnerships
Product updates

  • Nike has partnered with Newlight Technologies, a biotechnology company that produces a proprietary bio-based, and biodegradable material called “AirCarbon”,  to explore the use of the carbon-negative material in its line of products.

  • Nike states that its materials account for 70% of its carbon footprint. This partnership to use AirCarbon, which is made from carbon waste, is a step toward reaching its carbon reduction goals, one of which is to ensure that 50% of all its key materials would be environmentally preferred materials by 2025.
