Collaborative workspace platform Notion announced the acquisition of the workflow automation startup Automate.io. The financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed, but this marks Notion’s first acquisition.
Founded in 2016, Automate.io is an Indian startup that builds connectivity and integration for more than 200 software tools across e-commerce, payments, marketing, and productivity tools—one such tool being Notion. The platform’s pricing model includes a freemium option along with several paid tiers starting at USD 10 per user per month. Currently, Automate.io reports profitability and houses a team of 40, serving more than 30,000 companies.
The acquisition will allow Notion to expand its reach, while it expects to open an engineering center in India. It also plans to open more offices in the country to establish its technical team outside the US in the long term. On the product front, the integration of Automate is expected to allow Notion to ship more features aimed at developers building apps on top of its tech stack.
