Airwallex raises USD 200 million in Series E funding

Funding

  • Airwallex, a cross-border payment and fund transfer infrastructure provider, has raised USD 200 million in Series E funding led by Lone Pine Capital with participation from several others including new investors G Squared and Vetamer Capital.

  • The round values the company at USD 4 billion and brings Airwallex’s total funds raised to USD 702 million. The funding comes just six months after Airwallex raised USD 100 million in Series D funding at a USD 2.6 billion valuation.

  • The funds will be invested in global expansion, accelerating product development, expanding its sales and commercial teams, and broadening its offerings.

  • The company’s revenue reportedly grew by 150% YoY in H12021 while its client base quadrupled, as the platform processed transaction volumes of over USD 20 billion. Moreover, its headcount also nearly doubled so far this year to almost 1,000.
