PureCycle Technologies, a producer of recycled polypropylene resin, has set up a plastic recycling prep facility in Winter Garden, Florida to sort and process type 5 polypropylene plastic. The completion date of the facility was not disclosed.
The facility is expected to help PureCycle secure plastic waste that is needed as feedstock to produce its ultra-pure recycled polypropylene resin, which will be manufactured at the company’s upcoming production plants in Ohio and in Georgia. This is also in line with the company’s community-focused plan of action to increase the recycling rates of plastic in the area.
In addition, PureCyle also plans to use the Winter Garden facility to process other plastics, which will be sold to third-party processors.

Analyst QuickTake: The company’s effort to secure feedstock comes in the backdrop of its aggressive growth plans to reach a production capacity of 1 billion pounds annually by 2025. In its Q2 earnings release , the company disclosed its active negotiations to procure 300 million pounds of feedstock for production as it expects manufacturing plants to come online, starting from next year. Developing its first plant in Ohio is on track and is expected to become operational by 2022, with its second plant in Georgia to follow in 2024. This was followed by another announcement last month, where it partnered with Mitsui & Co. Ltd to set up an ultra-pure recycled polypropylene production plant in Japan and expand its presence across the Asia Pacific.
