Trigo, an Israeli computer vision startup, has deployed its cashierless technology to enable supermarket brand Tesco in the UK to open its first check-out free grocery store in London.
The fully automated Tesco Express is a 225 square meter store located in High Holborn in central London. This marks the first entry by a grocery chain other than Amazon to enter into the frictionless checkout grocery store space. The move by Tesco follows Amazon’s pursuit of its global grocery strategy, which includes Just Walk Out technology. Further, Trigo’s technology is GDPR compliant enabling privacy and anonymization of a shopper’s movement, facial recognition, biometric and product data.
Trigo builds on its existing portfolio of projects including REWE Group and Aldi Nord (German supermarket chains), as well as Shufersal (largest Israeli supermarket chain).
