Heliogen partners with Woodside Energy to develop a concentrated solar demonstration facility

Partnerships

  • Heliogen, a concentrated solar energy company, has partnered with Woodside Energy, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the leading Australian energy producer Woodside Petroleum, to deploy the former’s technology.

  • Woodside has granted Heliogen a Limited Notice To Proceed (LNTP) to start procuring key equipment for a five-megawatt commercial-scale demonstration facility in California that will use Heliogen’s concentrated solar technology. Construction of the facility is expected to begin in 2022.

  • The LNTP follows a joint six-month feasibility study by Woodside and Heliogen and a front-end engineering and design (FEED) contract that commenced earlier in 2021. The two companies have also announced their intent to market Heliogen’s technology jointly in the US and Australia.
