BTIG analyst Peter Saleh estimates Beyond Meat could generate revenue up to USD 200 million from a national rollout of the McPlant burger in the US, increasing the top line by 35%. He arrived at the estimate based on per-day sales of 25 burgers each across more than 13,000 McDonald’s outlets. The analyst assumed Beyond Meat would sell burger patties at USD 1.48 per quarter pound.
The analyst has also stressed that the initial acceleration will depend on Beyond Meat's marketing spend and the overall budget could even adversely affect the company’s profitability in the short term.
Earlier in the month, McDonald’s announced that it intends to test its McPlant burger, created in collaboration with Beyond Meat, in eight US restaurants from next month—a test run that would allow the fast-food chain to understand the impact on its kitchens.
